Arua v994

We've made more changes to the Union Wars based on feedback, improved our automated PvP Tournament Arena, and more!

Feedback: https://forum.aruarose.com/threads/arua-v994-feedback.173421/

Patch Notes:
  • Added an automated announcement sent to the City of Junon Polis, Magic City of Eucar, Xita Refuge and Heliopolis inviting players to purchase lottery tickets from [Event Info] Felice Fete.
  • Edited the test version of the Forgotten Temple (B2) boss:
    • We've made changes to this test boss and we'll be having more test sessions with players.
    • The boss can only be spawned by a staff member and drops no items.
  • Edited the hit boxes of several large monsters including Aleksandros, Sun God Throne and Verminios:
    • This change makes it easier for players to move around the monster without accidentally targeting it.
  • Edited the location of the portal to enter the Cerberus Lair.
  • Fixed a number of desync issues relating to movement speed and being given a buff/debuff of movement speed.
  • Fixed a bug that caused monsters to not drop one of the items from their droptable.
  • Fixed a monster spawnpoint not working in the bottom right room of the Forgotten Temple (B2).
  • Fixed a bug where the Gift Bag icon would show at the start of the next play session if you received a gift bag during the last play session but disconnected before trying to redeem it.
  • Fixed a bug where Pets wouldn't correctly apply bonuses on maps which have both PvE and PvP areas (i.e. Sikuku Ruins).
  • Fixed [Teleporter] Bahiti not mentioning the Grade 5 requirement to enter Oro Clan Field.
  • Renamed Vagabond's Cursed Wood to Cursed Vagabond Wood.
  • Renamed Golem's Skull to Moss Golem Skull.

Akram Quest:
  • Fixed a bug where buffs were removed from players after the Arena had ended, even if Auto Buffing was disabled.

Battle Royale:
  • Fixed a bug where the attack range of players may be bugged upon leaving the Arena.
  • Players will now receive 3x kill proofs for the Arena Objectives for each kill when killing another player inside the Arena.

Junon's Union War:
  • Added a 5s respawn delay for the defending team.
  • Added the Union War schedule:
    • As per this topic, the schedule for Junon's Union War has been set to the following:
      • Monday - Friday: 3:00am, 9:00am (Europe: 9:00am, 3:00pm)
      • Saturday - Sunday: 1:00am, 7:00am, 11:00am (Europe: 7:00am, 1:00pm, 5:00pm)
    • These times may change based on feedback going forward, but we have made our best attempt to try and allow players from all timezones at some point through the week.
    • Announcements will be sent to all players 1 hour before sign ups open and 30 minutes before sign ups open.
    • Please note that the Union War will not automatically unlock at these times until we have finished our play tests.
  • Edited the Union War Crystals:
    • The hit box for the crystals has been adjusted so that you can only select the top-half of the crystal.
    • This allows players to easily click players who are trying to hide inside the crystal.
    • Preview (the red area indicates the hit box):
  • Fixed a visual bug with one of the crystal spawn areas.
  • Reduced the health of each crystal slightly.
[Feedback] Players hiding inside the crystals makes it impossible to kill them.
We've tried a few ways to solve this, but players adjust with our changes to continue doing it. We've managed to create a new system which solves this problem fully, as included in this update.

[Feedback] As defenders respawn directly next to the Sunrise Crystals, a respawn delay should be added.
In the previous play tests, attackers become blocked in their progress at the Sunrise Crystals because the defenders would simply respawn and jump almost instantly back into the fight. To balance this, we've added a 5s respawn delay for defenders and we'll monitor the impact of this over coming play tests.

Luna's Union War:
  • Added the Union War schedule:
    • As per this topic, the schedule for Junon's Union War has been set to the following:
      • Monday - Friday: 5:00am, 11:00am (Europe: 11:00am, 5:00pm)
      • Saturday - Sunday: 3:00am, 9:00am, 1:00pm (Europe: 9:00am, 3:00pm, 7:00pm)
  • Fixed a bug with the 'teleport home' punishment from the Dusk Crystal.
  • Increased the health of each crystal slightly.
[Feedback] Players hiding inside the crystals makes it impossible to kill them.
We've tried a few ways to solve this, but players adjust with our changes to continue doing it. We've managed to create a new system which solves this problem fully, as included in this update.

Tournament:
  • Added a small 2s respawn delay once a round ends.
  • Decreased the start time from 30s to 5s.
  • Fixed a bug where the queue would count down from 30s before starting, rather than adhering to the lower amount for the Tournament Arenas.
  • Fixed a bug where a player would sometimes respawn and be unable to interact with their skills.
  • If you join your assigned Arena and it fails to start within 10s, it will no longer show the 'Would you like to rejoin?' window.

Tournament Arena

Last year(!), we created a fully automated PvP Tournament Arena which allows us to arrange PvP tournaments from start to finish with little interaction needed from staff. Our attention has mostly been drawn elsewhere for the best part of this year so we have had little time to trial it, but we have made some further improvements and fixed a few outstanding bugs and now in a position where we want to start doing play tests to gather feedback and perfect the Arena.

The major benefits of the Tournament Arena is that it allows both players to complete their scheduled match when they are ready, as it does not require any referee to monitor the match. We have created a number of rules which are automatically enforced, which means players can no longer accuse the other of cheating in some way. We have also created 8 Tournament Arenas which allow 8 matches to be complete consecutively. The end goal of the Tournament Arena is to allow staff to arrange more frequent tournaments, a wider variety of tournaments - for example, tournaments specific to a class, or a tournament which blocks certain skills or items, ... - and to make improvements on the feedback of past tournaments.

Tournament Sign Up

We have the ability to allow players to sign up to a tournament one of two ways:
  • Manually: This is where staff may require something other than Zulie as an entry fee, or they are arranging a tournament outside of the game. Your entry will be manually recorded by staff.
  • Automated: This is where we have a fixed Zulie entry fee (or none at all). The entry fee is taken at the time of signing up (which a player can do so at Game Arena > Tournament, clicking Sign Up then clicking the Join button), and your entry is automatically recorded.

Tournament Schedules

Once the sign up period closes, we can then take a list of players who have completed the sign up process and automatically generate a list of randomised scheduled matches. We are able to assign specific matches to specific Tournament Arenas - for example, if we have 20 scheduled matches, we can split these up so that 5 are scheduled for Tournament Arena [1], 5 for Tournament Arena [2], 5 for Tournament Arena [3], and 5 for Tournament Arena [4].

When the matches have been announced, you are free to join the assigned Tournament Arena when both you and your opponent are ready. Once a player joins the Arena queue, the queue becomes locked so that only your scheduled opponent can join the queue. If your opponent doesn't join within 10 seconds, the queue becomes unlocked for other players.

When both players are in the queue, the Tournament Arena will begin after 5 seconds.

Tournament Matches

There is a 30s warm up period at the start of each round. During this time, you are able to self buff and prepare for the battle. During this time, your opponent will not be visible to you and you will not be able to move.

The game time, round status and scores are showed on the left side of the game.

Once the match has been complete, the scores are automatically recorded for staff to review. We will also be integrating our Discord bot to publishing the results instantly in the relevant Discord channel.

Tournament Rules

We have implemented an abundance of rule sets which are automatically enforced and can be changed to control the Arena or force particular actions of a player throughout the match. A full rule list will be made public before a Tournament starts.
